1)Descriptions of Worm Gear Set
The worm gear set consists of a gear (helicoidal shaft) and a turbine (gearwheel) that mesh with each other. The two components are arranged at a 90° angle for cross transmission. It is suitable for transmission systems that require a large reduction ratio and high load-bearing capacity.
2)Advantages of Worm Gear Set
a)Large transmission ratio: A single-stage transmission can provide a much higher reduction ratio than that of gears, reducing the complexity of multi-stage transmissions.
b)Smooth operation: The progressive meshing of the worm gear and the turbine reduces shock and noise, and is suitable for precision transmission.
c)Self-locking capability: Under specific design conditions, the turbine cannot drive the worm gear in reverse direction, which is suitable for safety braking scenarios.
